‘The Hobbit’: Latest Video Blog And Comic Con News

As promised, director Peter Jackson has shared his new video blog of The Hobbit production.

First the bad news.

He announces some disappointing news for fans that were expecting to see a panel of the new installation The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug at San Diego Comic Con later this month.

The reason given by Jackson is that shooting is ongoing at this moment and he is simply not prepared to present something formal to the public.

He adds that the plan was to originally see which cast members would be available to go to San Diego and participate in a panel as they did last year for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

Jackson explains that, as in any other production he is involved, anything presented at Comic Con has to be top quality. He adds that that being the case, he feels he can not make something that will take him away from the production at this point.

He did promise that there will be more video blogs to come later in the year as the film’s release gets closer.

Now for the good news.

The production of the last scenes left to shoot to complete The Hobbit trilogy is in full swing. The cast and crew have been busy, filming six days a week and working long hours.

The new blog takes the audience through some green screen scenes being shot with some old characters as well as new faces making their debut in the second part of the story.

The trailer park has been rebuilt, to house the ensemble of not only actors, but crew in a reunion of people from a couple of years ago.

Crew is seen building sets and props for the shoot and some of the different departments share how all aspects of the films come together.

The actors are happy to be reunited with cast members from the previous shoot. The Hobbit is one big happy family.
