The hit FOX sitcom New Girl is available on Netflix streaming.
The folks at 20th Century Fox and Netflix announced the multi-year partnership on July 1. Those who subscribe to the subscription service can start watch episodes whenever they want.
According to the official press release from Netflix, additional season of New Girl will become available on Netflix once all of the episodes have been broadcast. In other words, fans won’t find the current season available on the service at the moment.
“We are delighted that Netflix viewers will now have the opportunity to enjoy this remarkable comedy. As a leader in digital distribution, Netflix is an important partner for us. We are thrilled to continue building our relationship with them,” Twentieth Century Fox Television’s Gina Brogi explained.
Since New Girl has proven to be a big success for FOX, Netflix is understandably excited to bring the series starring Zooey Deschanel to subscribers. Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said he was “thrilled” about the show’s inclusion on the streaming service.
“We know our members love comedies and that they’ll enjoy watching all the current and future episodes of ‘New Girl’ whenever and wherever they want,” Sarandos explained.
Created by Elizabeth Meriwether, New Girl stars indie darling Zooey Deschanel as the lovably awkward Jess. After going through a particularly rough breakup, she moves into an apartment with a group of single guys. Hilarity and hijinks usually ensue. The sitcom was recently picked up for a third season.
Although a handful of episodes from season two are currently available on Hulu, Netflix will have access to every single episode going forward. For the time being, only season one is being offered to subscribers. It’s unknown when the second season will become available.
If you’re not a Netflix customer, then you can subscribe to 20th Century Fox’s New Girl channel on YouTube. There are currently 49 episodes available on that particular streaming service.
