‘Dexter’ Season 8 Premiere Cuts Deep For Final Act

The Dexter season 8 premiere is dividing fans like a knife, with some either hating it or loving it.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the summer trailer for the Dexter season 8 premiere showed the Morgans getting into hot water right off the bat.

I’m not going to release any spoilers about the Dexter season 8 premiere, but as should be obvious it begins where Dexter season 7 left off. Lieutenant LaGuarta is dead, killed by Dexter’s sister Debra Morgan in order to save Dexter from death as a serial killer.

The Dexter season premiere is already tackling the hard questions. Will Dexter meet justice for all the murders of murderers? Does Dexter have to die for his sins?

I won’t give away too much, but Lieutenant LaGuarta was the only one still hunting Dexter as the prime suspect for the Bay Harbor Butcher murders. While Dexter seems to want to push the past behind him and enjoy the easy life, Debra makes career-altering decisions in this Dexter season premiere.

The other major question left to be answered is whether Dexter finally make the switch to a normal family man. Dexter has to choose what is most important: following the destiny set out by his father Harry, or being the needed father for his son Harrison.

While the Dexter season 8 premiere doesn’t answer those questions quite yet, we do see that a confrontation is a brewing. The good news is that, whatever the eventual outcome, Michael C. Hall will still be “alive” in other Showtime projects after Dexter. Never mind the potential Dexter spin-off featuring Debra Morgan.
