‘Hellboy 3’ Might Find A Home At Legendary Pictures

Hellboy 3 could find a new home over at Legendary Pictures.

Reports recently suggested the Hellboy franchise was officially over and out. However, a recent interview with Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro suggests the hero could eventually find his way back to the big screen at some point down the road.

During his conversation with Shock Till You Drop, the acclaimed director hinted that Hellboy 3 might find a new home with the folks at Legendary Pictures. However, del Toro admitted that he hates giving out such details before anything official has come together.

“Last night, we were at dinner and Ron said, ‘I would be very happy to do Hellboy again, when are we doing Hellboy 3?’ Thomas [Tull] said, ‘I would love to see Hellboy 3.’ He didn’t say he would love to do it he just said he’d like to see it, but today, I’ll ask him,” the director explained.

Although Guillermo del Toro seems interested in doing another Hellboy movie, Thomas Tull told io9 that getting another sequel off the ground might be a little difficult. In other words, don’t start planning any Hellboy 3 parties just yet.

“Seeing how we don’t own the rights to Hellboy, there may be lawyers that would get upset about that. But you know, in Guillermo’s world, maybe he can make that go away. I don’t know,” Tull told the website.

Right now, all eyes are currently on Guillermo del Toro’s $200 million monster flick Pacific Rim. If this project fails to earn a significant amount of money at the box office later this month, then Hellboy 3 may never happen.

The Inquisitr previously reported that del Toro’s upcoming endeavor isn’t really tracking the way it should with prospective moviegoers. Analysts are predicting that Adam Sandler’s star-studded sequel Grown Ups 2 will trample the competition at the box office.

“We just need to keep working. Our numbers are going up. Not in a minor way. Significant. We are one the right track. Whatever sequel opens will have, by definition, higher awareness and numbers across the board but we are moving strongly in the right direction,” the filmmaker explained.

Do you hope Guillermo del Toro and Legendary Pictures move forward with Hellboy 3? Are you planning to catch Pacific Rim in theaters?
