Jessica Simpson Gives Birth To Baby Boy
Jessica Simpson and her fiance Eric Johnson welcomed their second child, a baby boy, Sunday.
Ace Knute Johnson was born via scheduled C-section, Simpson’s representative told Us Weekly. The baby boy’s middle name honors Johnson’s Swedish paternal grandfather, Knute Johnson.
Simpson unveiled her son’s name back in February, but did not reveal how she and Johnson decided on Ace.
Simpson and Johnson are already parents to Maxwell Drew, who was born on May 1, 2012. Maxwell (whose first name is her father’s middle name) helped her mom announce pregnancy when Simpson tweeted a photo of her sitting on a beach with the words “Big Sis” written in the sand. The 32-year-old captioned the photo, “Merry Christmas from my family to yours.”
Simpson accidentally confirmed the baby’s sex on Jimmy Kimmel Live back in March. When Kimmel asked how she was feeling, Simpson responded, “I never knew that a wiener could actually make me so nauseous.” Kimmel asked Simpson what she meant to say, to which she replied, “Well, I guess I just told the whole world that I’m having a boy.”
A friend of Simpson said 32-year-old’s second pregnancy “definitely was planned,” but that she was “overjoyed” to be a mother again.
Simpson and Johnson, 33, were engaged in the fall of 2010, but put off their wedding when Simpson got pregnant with Maxwell. The couple then planned to try again before Simpson’s unexpectedly got pregnant again. At her April 14 baby shower, Simpson “was telling friends she wanted to get married a few months after the baby is born.”
When the wedding happens, it will be the second marriage for both Simpson and Johnson. Simpson was married to former 98 Degrees member Nick Lachey on October 26, 2002. The couple announced that they were separating in November 2005, and Simpson filed for divorce on December 16, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The divorce was finalized on June 30, 2006.
Johnson separated from his wife, Keri, in October 2009, after being photographed with Simpson. The divorce was finalized on October 7, 2010. Simpson announced that the two were engaged on November 14.
