Terminator Reboot In 2015: Arnie To Return?

Terminator Reboot – or Terminator 5 – whichever title you prefer, is due for release in June 2015, say Paramount Pictures.

This time, Paramount will have 2 partners. Executive producers are David Ellison (Skydance Productions) and his sister, Megan Ellison, (Annapurna Pictures).

Writers Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier are hard at work to meet the release date.

It seems that the original storyline will not continue. Maybe there will be a connection to ‘The Terminator’ (the first film of the franchise), but it won’t be a direct sequel.

The industry buzz is due to a rumor that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be connected with the project.

The first Three Terminator movies grossed more than $ 1 billion at the worldwide box office, with Arnie,as the title character.

The press release issued by the three partners doesn’t mention Arnold Schwarzenegger by name. This has led to an assumption that it’s because Arnie now looks visibly older. Would young audiences accept him as a credible cyborg?

Actually, in their statement, the three companies seem anxious to promote their joint involvement in other blockbuster action films they have produced.

They mention the recently released ‘World War ‘ as well as ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’, ‘G.I Joe: Retaliation’ and ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.’

Once Hollywood creates a money-making franchise, it needs to squeeze as much as possible from it.

Whether Arnold Schwarzenegger is going to be part of that ‘squeeze’ is anyone’s guess.

Do you think the cinema-going public really wants a Terminator Reboot Trilogy – with or without a ‘more mature’ Arnie?
