Miley Cyrus Embarrassed By ‘Hannah Montana’ Days

Miley Cyrus is well past her days as a Disney star on Hannah Montana, but she’s still bothered by her time as a teen sensation. At 20-years-old, she’s recently released a hit single in “We Can’t Stop,” but no matter what she does her fans will always remember her rise to the top as Hannah Montana.

In the popular TV franchise, Cyrus played a young girl who was on the rise to stardom as a teen-pop artist. Fans quickly took a liking to the show, which eventually led to hit soundtracks and movies.

In 2007, the second Hannah Montana soundtrack debuted as the No. 1 album after becoming an instant hit. The show’s soundtracks combined to sell over seven million copies and Cyrus was quickly becoming a pop star at the age of 14.

With fame in front of her, Cyrus quickly grew up and she’s now one of the best in the business, but that hasn’t taken away from her past role in Hannah Montana. Miley Cyrus explained the situation in a recent interview with Billboard in which she noted that it’s “irritating” when she sees her fans going back to her old albums as a teen.

“Right now, when people go to iTunes and listen to my old music, it’s so irritating to me because I can’t just erase that stuff and start over,” Cyrus said in the interview.. “My last record I feel so disconnected from — I was 16 or 17 when I made it. When you’re in your 20s, you just don’t really know that person anymore.”

Cyrus has changed her image over the years but she’s constantly reminded of the past when she was a teen star. With a new album on the way, she’s ready to start over completely.

“I want to start as a new artist,” Cyrus added. “I consider my upcoming album my first, really.”

Do you think a new album, which will target an older fan base, is going to be enough for Miley Cyrus to move past her role in Hannah Montana?
