‘Downton Abbey’ Wine Is Headed To The US

Fans of Downton Abbey will soon be able to drown their sorrows in a collection of “vintage” wines inspired by the hit PBS drama.

What better way to show off your enthusiasm for the worldwide phenomenon than by purchasing a bottle of alcohol with a Downton Abbey label on the bottle. This is assuming you have money left over after buying the show’s official line of clothing, of course.

According to Fox News, Wines That Rock and the folks at Dulong Grands Vins de Bordeaux have joined forces to create a collection of “vintage” Downton Abbey wine.

The tasty beverage will reportedly “come from grapes grown on the same vines and from the same soil as the era depicted in ‘Downton Abbey.'” For those who like to drink on a budget, this is as close to vintage wine as they’re likely it get.

Wines That Rock co-owner Bill Zysblat explained:

We are working with The Dulong Grands Vins De Bordeaux vineyards, which have been in the same family for five generations. They have over 130 years of experience in creating the world’s best wines so these are wines the Crawley family would have been proud to serve at Downton.

Time reports that an official release date for the Downton Abbey wine has not been set. However, it’s believed the tie-in will hit shelves across the US and Canada in time for the fourth season. The bottles will be available individually or in gift sets.

In other Downton Abbey news, The Inquisitr previously reported that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 villain Paul Giamatti has signed on for the next season of hit series. His character has been described as an “ugly American,” one who should fit nicely alongside Shirley MacLaine.

Are you a fan of Downton Abbey? Do you plan to purchase a bottle of the show’s wine to drink during the season premiere this January?
