‘Duck Dynasty’ To Feature New, Beardless Robertson Brother

Duck Dynasty is getting a little less hairy.

Alan Robertson, the oldest son of Phil and Kay, is joining the hit reality show starting in August. He looks a bit — actually, a lot — different than his younger siblings, who all sport a scraggly, long-bearded look. Instead Alan is clean-shaven and tends to dress in nice business attire rather than the hunting camo his brothers seem to prefer.

Joining Duck Dynasty will destroy a bit of the anonymity that Alan Robertson has built up. Still, he seems ready to join the hit A&E show and start working at the family’s multi-million dollar company, Duck Commander.

“The beards are so iconic,” he told the New York Post, “All this time I’ve been flying under the radar; I can go to Starbucks and get Mama coffee.”

Robertson is a 47-year-old minister who has been preaching full-time at his Louisiana church rather than joining his family on the show. But on Duck Dynasty Alan sees a chance to share his faith with the show’s scores of viewers — 9.6 million tuned in for the season finale.

“What I do for our church — you see, it’s a pretty good-sized church — impacts a lot of people, but because of my association with the show, I’ll get to minister to a lot more people,” he said.

It will mark the beginning of a busy few months for the Robertson family. The new season debuts in August, and in November the family will be releasing a Christmas album. The album, Duck The Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas, will be released through Universal Music Group Nashville.

Alan Robertson said he had to put a lot of thought into whether he would join Duck Dynasty, but ultimately decided that because his children were grown it wouldn’t invade on their privacy.
