Kanye West Accuses MTV of “Fixing” Music Awards

Kane West is on a roll! He’s not targeting festival scheduling this time or getting in a scuffle: he’s claiming that the MTV Music Awards were fixed–on both sides of the pond! Kanye says that his “Ultimate Urban” award at the European Music Awards were just thanks to him taking the time out of his schedule to show up–and Britney Spears didn’t deserve to beat out Rihanna.

According to The Sun, he went off on a rant at the launch of 808s & Heartbreak at the London O2 Arena, which included tidbits like “Britney Spears over Rihanna? Are you serious?” and “I mean f****** Jared Leto? He’s my boy but he shouldn’t have won over some of those other artists.”

As The Sun points out, “MTV[s] say the award Kanye won was voted for entirely by their viewers.” Do you think he’s on to something? The last time we heard him complaining about awards, it was when he didn’t win. Same difference?

Regardless of whether or not he’s trying to crack MTV’s scandalous awards practices, it’s no secret that Kanye is feeling fragile, after the first anniversary of his mother’s death this November and his break with fiancee Alexis Phifer, and he told the press that his next album is “therapeutic” because “it’s lonely at the top.”

Okay, he gets a pass, because now I just feel bad for him.
