Kobe Bryant Injury Update: Lakers GM Is Optimistic In Star’s Comeback

Kobe Bryant’s injury was a heartfelt loss for all Lakers’ fans as the 2013 season closed and the playoffs began. The Lakers went on to lose by way of a sweep to the San Antonio Spurs in the first round with Bryant sitting out due to an Achilles injury.

During a recent interview in Brazil that was produced by Glenda Carqueijo, Bryant said he could play “another three or four years.” It’s tough to question the Lakers’ superstar as he’s always been determined to stay true to his words while proving his doubters wrong at the same time.

It seems Lakers’ general manager Mitch Kupchak is also optimistic towards Bryant’s future as he spoke with Lakers.com’s Mike Trudell about his star player. He explained how any injury can be taken care of now-a-days, but he also wasn’t shy about his confidence in Bryant.

“Medicine has been advanced to the point that there is rarely an injury that a player can’t come back from,” Kupchak said. “I do know he is on schedule and where he should be with that kind of injury.”

Kobe Bryant takes his injury very seriously and he’s already back on his feet in hopes of returning to the team in top shape before next season. Kupchak is very impressed with his ability to comeback and he expressed his opinion during the interview.

“Then you have to factor in the sport, and the age of the player, and mother nature. So that covers all the basis when talking about Kobe’s injury,” he added. “I’m continually amazed at his optimism, fortitude, and his confidence. He will be on a basketball court there is no doubt about that and I know he will be as focused and driven as ever.”

Kupchak went on to add that the team is “fortunate now to have Kobe here approaching 20 years,” though he’s well aware that they are “closer to the end of that era then we are to the beginning of it.”

The 34-year-old NBA great is setting up for his return to the Lakers with one goal in mind: Win another ring. The focus in Los Angeles has always been winning championships, but do you think Kobe Bryant and his injury will hold back the star as he looks to get the Lakers back to the top?
