Heidi Klum Removing ‘Seal’ Tattoo After Divorce

Thankfully for Heidi Klum, tattoos aren’t completely permanent — as long as you have the money and the time to get them removed. And that is what Klum is doing with the homage she paid to now ex-husband Seal.

Klum’s tattoo commemorating her vow renewal with Seal is located on her inner right arm. Along with the couple’s names, it also includes the names of the model’s three children.

But like many celebrity marriages, it apparently wasn’t meant to be. Heidi Klum filed for divorce in April 2012. The 40-year-old supermodel explained at the time, “It was our fourth wedding, and we wanted to have our names tattooed together.”

In recent photos of Heidi Klum, the tattoo is still visible. However, it appears to be faded, either from makeup or from a few sessions with a tattoo removal specialist.

A source revealed to PEOPLE Magazine that the star has “been through a few treatments” to have her ink removed. However, the source added that Heidi Klum won’t get the entire tattoo removed. Rather, the stars with her children’s initials will remain.

Along with her tattoo removal, Heidi Klum has been getting over her seven-year-marriage to Seal in a different way. The model is now dating Martin Kristen, her former bodyguard. Last fall, she dished to Katie Couric, “I trust him with my children’s life. He’s a great man and recently we just got to know each other from a completely different side.”

Heidi Klum isn’t the only star to get ink removed after a breakup. Angelina Jolie famously rid her skin of a “Billy Bob” tattoo after the couple broke up. Mark Anthony did the same with his tattoo dedication to Jennifer Lopez. As for Johnny Depp? Who remembers that “Wino Forever” tattoo?
