Carlos Tevez: Manchester City And Juventus Agree Fee For Striker
Manchester City and Juventus have agreed a fee for Carlos Tevez, which will see the Argentinian striker move to Italy for around $16million.
The fee could rise by further $3million, with add-ons, whilst the 29-year-old forward is expected to arrive in Italy on Wednesday for a medical and to discuss personal terms. It is thought that he will then sign a three-year contract with the club.
The two clubs came to the agreement on Tuesday, after they met in London to discuss the possibility of the move.
Manchester City are set to save around $38million because of the transfer, when you factor in the fee, wages, and bonuses that were due to Tevez in the final year of his contract.
Tevez joined Manchester City in 2009 from the Blues bitter cross city rivals, Manchester United, and he signed a five-year-contract with the club.
City paid his advisors, who owned his contract, around $38million for the striker, whilst some reports have also indicated that his fee was actually closer to $70million.
Tevez went on to make 148 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 74 goals and playing an integral role in City’s 2011/2012 Premier League winning campaign.
Tevez returned to City’s starting line-up late in the season, after he’d had a very public falling out with manager, Roberto Mancini, in November. Tevez was fined and suspended by the Italian because of an incident during a Champions League match with Bayern Munich, which saw the Argentinian decide not to get off the bench, even though his manager had requested his services. City subsequently went on to lose the encounter 2-0.
Manchester City are now being linked with a hoard of strikers, as the media starts to predict who will replace Tevez. Edison Cavani is believed to be top of their wish-list, and he’ll join Argentinian Sergio Aguero at the club if he does join.
