2010 College Football Preview: North Carolina Tar Heels

Ok the North Carolina Tar Heels will enter the 2010 CFB season as the #23 ranked team according to the Sporting News. In each of the last two seasons they have managed to win eight games. Playing in the ACC Coastal division is not the easiest thing to get done, but Head Coach Butch Davis has this team playing very well. In looking at their schedule I can easily see this team going on a run, however if things go wrong they could go wrong very fast.

The key date on their schedule is their first game September 4th. They will be hosting LSU and will get a chance to showcase their defensive skills, and make a statement within the ACC that this team is for real. Otherwise their schedule is as tough a one as a team in the ACC will get. This is a tough conference, and the Tar Heels will have to win all the games they should win, and get lucky in the others. In October they go on the road in back to back weeks at Virginia and at Miami. That will be tough.

NFL Draft guys are going to be following this team a lot in 2010, as they have five potential first round draft picks playing for their defense. Their QB will be Senior TJ Yates, and he must be effective or Davis will turn the offense over to freshman Bryn Renner. He happens to be the next big thing for this school, and will be a red shirt freshmen in 2010. He has a big arm, and is very mobile. He also plays 1B and OF for the Tar Heels baseball team.
