Scottie Pippen Fight: Former Chicago Bulls Player Could Face Felony Assault Charges
Former Chicago Bulls player Scottie Pippen was involved in a fight this weekend at a sushi restaurant in California.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Pippen was at the Nobu Malibu restaurant when he got into an argument with a man in the parking lot. The argument led to a physical altercation which resulted in the unidentified man being sent to the hospital.
Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County sheriff’s office, said: “That argument led to an altercation. Our detectives are investigating this right now.”
No charges have been filed yet but Pippen is being considered “a suspect in a felony assault with a deadly weapon.”
Whitmore said: “Charges could follow, we don’t know … We have to investigate and check with all the witnesses and find out exactly what happened.”
TMZ reports that Pippen “knocked the man out cold” with a punch and then proceeded to kick the man when he was on the ground. Police consider the additional kicks a “deadly weapon” since the man was reportedly unconscious on the ground.
The fight reportedly started when a man approached Scottie for an autograph. Pippen said “no” and then the two started arguing.
Pippen has not commented on the incident.
Scottie Pippen is a 6-time NBA Champion. He is a member of the original Dream Team, a Hall of Famer, and although he was overshadowed by his teammate Michael Jordan, he is considered by many to be one of the greatest players in NBA history.
