Demi Lovato Thanks Fans For Support After Father’s Death

Demi Lovato’s father Patrick passed away this weekend.

The singer hasn’t publicly commented on her father’s death but she did issue a statement on Twitter to thank her fans for all of their support.

Lovato writes: “I feel so humbled to have had so much support from my fans, friends, family and complete strangers” the singer and “X Factor … God bless you all, thank you so much.”

Access Hollywood reports that Patrick Lovato left the family when Demi was two-years-old and the two never rekindled their relationship. In 2009, Demi gave an interview to the New York Daily news and told them that it had been a few years since she had last seen her father.

At the time, Demi said: “The last time I talked to him was two years ago … You try to have faith in somebody, even when you’re the last person that believes in him. But when somebody lets you down after you’ve been the only one there for them, and so many times, you don’t know what else to do … I had to cut off all connection. It was hurting me too much.”

Details of Patrick’s death are not known at this time but Us Weekly notes that Demi’s father had been battling cancer for the last several years.
