‘The Avengers 2’: What We Know So Far

Here’s what we know so far about The Avengers 2.

The Avengers 2 has been the subject of rumors almost from the moment the first screening of The Avengers was over and we sat patiently through the end credits to see what was next. The future of the film has been off and on for months now as contract disputes and character rumors threatened the sequel’s existence.

In the end, it looks like The Avengers 2 is coming after all, and here are the facts we know up to this point.

Joss Whedon will be writing and directing the film, and has already included Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch in the new roster (as long as the film never mentions them as mutants). He is signed on with Marvel Studios for three years, which means he has the job of making sure the Avengers plotlines sync up with those of upcoming films Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the already released Iron Man 3.

After Shane Black’s ending for Iron Man 3, it is unknown what the armor will look like, but Tony Stark will no longer need the arc reactor in his chest to keep him alive. He will also apparently be more responsible than in the past, and Robert Downey Jr. will be playing the role once again, as previously reported by The Inquisitr.

It is uncertain what changes the Captain America and Thor films will have in store for the characters in The Avengers 2, but Hulk won’t have another film beforehand, so Mark Ruffalo’s version of the character is expected to be the same.

Joss Whedon has gone on record as saying that he’s saving Thanos for the third film, and he has confirmed that Loki won’t be in The Avengers 2, so nothing is known of who the villain will be.
