Channing Tatum Talks Politics At ‘White House Down’ Premiere

Channing Tatum is gearing up for the release of White House Down, but the star — who makes a surprise cameo in another big summer film (one which we won’t be spoiling) took some time out to see the sights, and joke about D.C. with co-star Jamie Foxx.

Channing Tatum is beloved by women across America for his … well, let’s face it. Channing Tatum is hotter than hot. But if you were hoping to get a glimpse of Tatum in a crossover role in actual Washington, you may be disappointed.

Sure, Ronald Reagan and Arnold “The Governator” Schwarzenegger went from Tinseltown to public office, but Tatum is far more disillusioned with political drama than many of his activist fellows and doesn’t see his role in civics to ever be extended beyond playing on the Silver Screen.

As Tatum and Foxx discussed their view of the positions they depicted in White House Down, Foxx gave props to President Barack Obama for his focus — and says Barry is a better man than him for that job:

“You can’t get anything done, so I would rather be on the outside … I would be taking a whole lot of vacations and there would be a whole lot of afterparties.”

While Foxx is not at current enticed by the idea of a political career, Channing Tatum says that he finds current political events to be upsetting due to all the creative positioning on the parts of politicians and talking heads.

After Foxx weighed in, Tatum told Politico:

“Everybody just spins everybody else’s words and it’s frustrating … I love D.C. … D.C. is amazing. D.C. doesn’t mean politics.”

Tatum’s “D.C. is amazing” comments appear to be genuine — late last night, the star posted some Facebook shots of him outside the White House (above), as well as one scaling the fence, chilling at various monuments, and exploring the city’s history.
