Jennifer Lopez Gets Star Number 2,500 On Hollywood Walk Of Fame
Jennifer Lopez has been given a spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in the process has become the 2,500 star to achieve the honour.
Lopez was joined by her boyfriend, Casper Smart, on Thursday afternoon when she was adorned with the honour. Her 5-year-old twins Max and Emme, plus her friends, the actors, Jane Fonda, Keenan Ivory Wayans, and Gregory Nava, who directed her in Selena, also joined her.
The actress was clearly emotional when she gave her speech at ceremony, stating, “I cried like almost 15 thousand times. It was so crazy. But I kept promising everybody I wasn’t going to cry and they were like, ‘Cry!’ ‘You’re not helping!’ But it was an amazing moment.”
Lopez relished sharing the moment with Wayans, which she said was kind of like walking “down memory lane.” She also added, “he’s the reason I moved to Los Angeles because I got that job as a fly girl.”
Lopez also thanked Nava, who cast her in her first movie, stating, “You realise you’ve been at this for a long time and you’ve been fighting and getting it. It’s a real kind of landmark day for me and I am just glad my family was here to share it with me.”
However, Lopez admitted that her offspring didn’t understand what all the fuss was about, saying, “I just told them, ‘Mommy is getting a star today.’ They don’t really know that means but they were great.”
Lopez then concluded, “For a romantic like me, it’s forever and I believe in that. I believe in forever. It’s a good day.”
Lopez was chosen by a committee who selected her for the star. Upon being offered the honor Lopez then had to pay $30,000 in costs and fees for the star.
