Bill Rancic Says Reality TV Stars Lack Work Ethic
Reality TV star Bill Rancic thinks that most of today’s reality stars fade into obscurity because they don’t have a good work ethic to keep them going.
This is probably because reality TV isn’t really work, but I digress because I actually like Bill Rancic.
Anyway, before Giuliana & Bill, Rancic came up through the reality TV ranks himself with a spot on Donald Trump’s The Apprentice. He ultimately emerged victorious, and then moved on to more real-world business ventures, where, as an entrepreneur, he became incredibly successful.
But he still has one foot in the entertainment business with his E! News anchor wife Giuliana. Their reality series, Giuliana & Bill, is a huge success, but what separates these two from most reality TV schmucks is that they didn’t quit their day jobs.
Bill seems to think that part is key. He theorizes that many reality TV stars become too concerned with “cult of personality” and forget how to work hard in the real world. Because of this, they tend to fade away quickly.
“I think a lot of the winners on these reality competition shows fade away,” Rancic said.
“But I think at the end of the day, you have to have a good work ethic. A lot of them expect to have everything fall into their lap and that’s not the case. But for me, I was a little bit older, so when I won The Apprentice, I was almost 32. So I had a little bit more experience … and I could handle all the craziness that came with it.”
Reality TV stars are immature? No …
Bill’s wife Giuliana also has a sour taste in her mouth from other reality TV programs. In late 2012, she slammed the MTV show 16 and Pregnant over the stars’ careless attitudes toward motherhood.
“I would go, ‘I’m a good person, and I could give someone the greatest life of all, but yet I can’t get pregnant.’ And then you watch these TV shows, 16 and Pregnant, and these girls who want nothing to do with their babies are pregnant. And you’re going, what? None of that made sense to me.”
