iPhone 5 Coming To Virgin Mobile USA

Virgin Mobile USA will begin offering customers unlocked iPhone 5’s starting June 28.

The contract-free smartphones will be made available in 16GB ($550), 32GB ($650), and 64GB ($750) options. The devices will not be cheap, but they will allow customers to take advantage of Virgin Mobile USA pricing.

Plans start at $35 per month and include unlimited texts plus 2.5GB of 3G/4G data. After 2.5GB have been utilized, Virgin Mobile USA will throttle data speeds but will still allow for internet access.

Customers who need more than the 300 voice minutes included the base plan can pay additional fees. Other options include 1,200 voice minutes for $45 and unlimited voice minutes for $55.

Virgin Mobile will knock $5 per month off a customers contract if they sign up for automatic billing.

The iPhone 5 has already arrived off-contract at T-Mobile and through other pre-paid vendors, which means Virgin Mobile USA has some catching up to do.

The company operates off the Sprint Wireless network, which means customers can expect the same level of iPhone 5 service for voice, 3G, and LTE coverage.

If you would rather take advantage of a cheap iPhone 5 offer, you can trade in your iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S at Best Buy. The electronics giant revised its free device trade in program today.

Do you think the Apple iPhone 5 can capture a large audience of Virgin Mobile USA users given the high cost of acquisition?
