‘Destiny’: Bungie Releases Details About Weapons, Story

Bungie has released details about Destiny‘s weapons and story!

Destiny has been a game surrounded in silence, due to Bungie being tight-lipped about its details. However, said details have been revealed, as previously reported by The Inquisitr. The last time, we talked about how Bungie is making sure that Destiny is a game you want to keep spending time with, ensuring that the social aspects and online matchmaking are topnotch.

This time around, we’re talking about the weapons and story of Destiny. Bungie COO Pete Parsons spoke with Polygon at E3 2013 about the looting system:

“We have a set number of weapons [and we] balance each and every one of them, including all of [the] achievements, it’s just a huge amount of work. That number will continue to grow, and we also have exotics on top of that. We want everybody to be excited to come in and play, so we have private loot streams, which means everything in Destiny is meant for your character. You’re not fighting over weapons as they drop from enemies and it gives you a really good reason to go back to places you’ve already been before.”

Pete Parsons adds that you will still have to make active decisions about what weapons you carry, and how your character class will affect your selection.

Of course, matchmaking and weapons are fine and everything, but without a good story, Destiny could easily become “just another online shooter.” The story of Destiny involves the planets of our solar system, and senior writer Eric Osborne went into detail about it with Metro UK in an interview:

“We have a great story arc, our team is working really hard on the narrative we’re building around the world. Infusing that into the world of Destiny whether you’re doing something co-operative or competitive or just exploring the world itself and soaking it in. We’re also super interested in player stories and we think games should be fun. We want people to smile!”

It looks like Bungie is going the same direction as Avalanche, the creators of Mad Max, going out of their way to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth.

What do you think of the details released about Destiny? Does Bungie have another hit on their hands?
