Kanye West Parkinson’s Lyrics Under Fire


 

On Yeezus, Kanye West’s Parkinson’s disease reference has drawn the ire of groups that advocate for sufferers of the condition — and detractors say the lyric in question is beyond offensive.

The Kanye West Parkinson’s lyric is one of a bunch on Yeezus making waves, and the oft-controversial rapper and new dad is in typical Kanyeezy form when he flows:

“I am a God … Hurry up with my damn croissants!”

Okay, well we can all relate to that emotion. West also raps:

“When I park my Range Rover … Slightly scratched your Corolla … Okay, I smashed your Corolla.”

But it’s Kanye West’s Parkinson’s lyric that caused the rapper some grief, as in the song “On Sight,” Yeezy raps:

“A monster about to come alive again, soon as I pull up and park the Benz, we get this bitch shaking like Parkinson’s.”

TMZ broke the story about Kanye West’s Parkinson’s controversy, speaking with one advocacy group about the lyric’s impact and potential offense to those suffering the disease.

The site reports:

“Now, TMZ has learned the American Parkinson Disease Association is upset about the lyric — with the org.’s VP Kathryn Whitford telling us, ‘We find these lyrics distasteful and the product of obvious ignorance.’ ”

While Kanye West’s Parkinson’s reference offended some, others felt that the verse was being subject to oversensitivity — and fans tweeted support for ‘Ye as Yeezus is received:
