‘Anchorman 2’ Trailer Finally Arrives Online [Video]

The first Anchorman 2 trailer has finally arrived online. Instead of simply giving fans a tease, the clip contains actual footage from the upcoming sequel.

The follow-up to Adam McKay’s hilarious 2004 comedy finds Brian Fantana, Champ Kind, Brick Tamland, and the mustachioed Ron Burgundy boldly marching into the 1980s. Unfortunately for the gang, a lot has changed since their time in the spotlight.

A younger, more diverse group of journalists have moved into their territory, transforming these once-relevant anchors into relics of a bygone era. However, the gang is hoping to revive their careers by helping out with a new 24-hours global news channel.

“I’m going to do the thing that God put Ron Burgundy on this Earth to do: have salon-quality hair and read the news,” Burgundy says at one point during the trailer.

Anchorman 2 brings back everyone from the original film as well as a number of new faces. Although Burgundy hooked up with Veronica Corningstone in the first movie, it would appear the seasoned news anchor has a new love interest in the sequel. Stomp the Yard star Meagan Good is slated to play Ron’s new girlfriend.

Judging from the trailer, it looks like Ron Burgundy has a new rival to contend with over the course of the sequel. 30 Rock star James Marsden plays a dashingly handsome new anchor, one that our hero is clearly a little concerned about. However, chances are Burgundy will prevail when all is said and done.

McKay and company managed to wrangle a number of celebrity cameos for Anchorman 2. According to Internet Movie Database, the flick reportedly includes appearances by Jim Carrey, Liam Neeson, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Sacha Baron Cohen, Kristen Wiig, Harrison Ford, and Kanye West. And that’s just naming a few of them.

What do you think about the Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues trailer? Are you planning to catch the sequel in theaters on December 20?
