CTIA Sues San Francisco Over Cell Phone Radiation Law
If you’ve visited a retail location that offers cell phones in San Francisco lately, you’ve probably noticed a cell phone radiation chart which shows which phones provide more radiation than others, that chart has led the Cellular Telephone Industries Association (CTIA) to sue the city.
CTIA complains in a filing to federal court that the law supersedes the FCC’s own mandates and misleads customers about the safety of each cellular device.
The CTIA may have a winning case, currently each phone is rigorously tested by the FCC and they must fall below a 1.6 watt per kilogram threshold to be approved for sale.
PC World has the full complaint which sticks it to the city and could make for an interesting case of precedent.
