Constipation remedy MiraLAX recalled for ill-fitting caps

The laxative MiraLAX is being recalled, but the recall is not due to a defect with the medication itself- it seems ill fitting caps are to blame.

Retailer Giant Food Stores posted the following recall notice on their website yesterday:

PRODUCT RECALL: Miralax 30 Dose
Recall Date: July 15, 2010
Product: Miralax 30 Dose with 4-count sachet Size: 17.9 oz. UPC: 4110080770

Reason: The cap is not correctly re-sealable and poses a safety concern.

Customers may return product to any Giant store for a full refund.

Customers can also call Giant’s Customer Service at 1-888-469-4426 M-F 9am -5 pm ET.

While non-contaminating packaging recalls are generally less threatening than those that affect the medication, like in the wave of earlier Tylenol recalls, having a laxative with an easy to remove cap is probably never a good idea with small kids in the house. You can visit the manufacturer’s MiraLAX website, but so far no info has been posted about the recall.
