Katy Perry Still ‘Madly In Love’ With John Mayer

Singer Katy Perry admitted in a recent interview that despite her on-again, off-again status with fellow musician John Mayer, she is still “madly in love” with him.

Katy Perry covers Vogue for the first time in July, and shared some juicy details about her personal life in the accompanying interview.

“I was madly in love with him. I still am madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he’s got a beautiful mind. Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds,” she said of her relationship with Mayer.

Though the couple were recently reported to be “on again” for the third time, Perry confesses that she is now single.

“I think that I can just right now focus on me and strengthening myself and my emotional support system. I’m not in a relationship, I’m just on my own — I am myself in my own bed. I have to be happy being alone, and I am happy. I believe that I will be loved again, in the right way. I know I’m worth it.”

She also talked a bit about her relationship with comedian Russell Brand, whom she has not spoken to since divorcing in 2011. She said that while the pair started off on equal footing, she believes that he grew stressed with that aspect of their relationship.

“At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they’re like, I can’t handle the equalness,” she opined.

She also noted that she felt “a lot of responsibility” for the way her marriage ended, but said that she found out it wasn’t her fault for reasons she “can’t necessarily disclose.”
