iPhone 4 Vs. EVO Video: How To Get Fired From Best Buy
Brian Maupin is my hero, he had the balls to take on Apple’s iPhone 4 with a very convincing, yet funny video about why customers should buy the EVO and not the iPhone 4. Unfortunately he’s not Best Buy’s favorite person at the moment, in fact they plan on firing their mobile phone sales employee of 3 and a half years over the entire production.
In the video Maupin shows an electronics store employee who is trying to convince customers to buy the HTC EVO 4G instead of the problem riddled iPhone 4.
Currently Mauphin has been suspended indefinitely from the Kansas City, Missouri branch as the store prepares to fire him.
Maupin says of his 1.3 million views for his video and Best Buy’s response:
“They felt it disparaged a brand they carried (iPhone/Apple) as well as the store itself and were fearful of stockholders & customers being turned off to Best Buy Mobile.”
Interestingly enough the video (shown below), doesn’t portray a Best Buy store in any respect, in fact the store is called “Phone Mart” and the character isn’t even wearing any type of Best Buy uniform.
Maupin has been optimistic about the situation:
“I see it all as a blessing in disguise. I’ve wanted to start my career in graphic design/animation for so long, I see this as my kick in the pants to go get it.”
Missed the video? Here it is:

I’m going to buy the HTC and with the sprint $69 plan it’s a no brainer. Now you can even turn your smart phone into a wireless credit card machine http://www.prestigemerchantservices.com and start expanding your business

What do you expect from BB? They are the shittiest electronics retailer out there. Where else can you pay over 4,000% for a HDMI cable….BB. And they have the nerve to say his video hurt their image.
