Jack Abramhoff out of the pokey, working at Baltimore pizza joint

Jack Abramhoff, the “disgraced former lobbyist” who went to jail for a few years thanks to a slew of “exchanging expensive things for other expensive things” scandals is now back to being a productive member of society.

Abramhoff, who was convicted for fraud, tax evasion and bribing the hell out of public officials in 2006, is serving a six month “community service” stint at Tov’s Pizza in Baltimore. The terms of Abramhoff’s release forbid him from talking to press about the gig, but owner Ron Rosenbluth was happy to blab to the Jewish Times about the mitzvah for Abramhoff:

Mr. Rosenbluth said that taking a fellow Jew and giving him a fresh start is part of what Judaism stands for. He said that he was happy that Tov Pizza could be that place where Abramoff could begin his healing journey back.

“We’re all Jews, we’re all on the same team,” said Mr. Rosenbluth. “I’m more than happy to help a fellow Jew in any way I can.”

The goodwill appears to go both ways, as Abramhoff, though unable to give a direct quote, is said to like and respect his new boss:

While he cannot be interviewed at this time, Abramoff has made it no secret that he considers Mr. Rosenbluth a “tzaddik,” or righteous individual, for all he does for the community and especially for him.
