Amanda Bynes announces retirement on Twitter

Former Nickelodeon star and supporting actress in the recent redux of Hairspray Amanda Bynes told her 330K+ tweeps on Saturday that her her career in showbiz is over.

Bynes, who is now 24, said she’s not digging acting much anymore and she doesn’t plan to continue. Bynes revealed her retirement in a series of tweets:

I’ve never written the movies & tv shows I’ve been apart of I’ve only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play

Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem

If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it

I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it

I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I’ve #retired

Bynes, who has previously starred in Nick’s All That and The Amanda Show, is appearing in a film called Easy A later this year. Reps for the actress have not commented on her future plans or whether she was entirely serious about retirement.
