Twitter Suffers More Serious Downtime


Twitter of late seems to be chanelling its past with repeated bouts serious downtime, including downtime as of 2am PDT Sunday (7pm AEST) as we write this post.

The more frequent downtime of late would seem to coincide with the World Cup in South Africa, although at this stage we are unable to confirm the link.

What we are certain of is that the fail whale is back with a vengeance in the last two weeks, and with the World Cup still in its early stages, users could possibly expect further outages as the tournament progresses.

After a bad year in 2008 of frequent downtime, founders Biz Stone and Ev Williams have since proven their worth during a major growth spurt for Twitter by offering a reliable service. Despite doubts in years gone by, we have faith in both that these issues will be sorted again.

Update 2:40am Sunday PDT (7:40pm AEDT): some Twitter functions seem to be back online, but only just. We’re still calling Twitter down.
