BuzzMedia Acquires Three Content Sites

BuzzMedia has continued its shopping spree this year with the acquisition of three new content sites.

Among the acquisitions were two blogs: “urban lifestyle” blog Concrete Loop and music blog Gorilla vs Bear. Rounding out the acquisitions is new music site PureVolume.

Of the three buys, Gorilla v Bear is perhaps the most interesting one as it stands out as having the lowest traffic, clocking in on Alexa at 75,402, and is hosted on Google’s Blogger platform (indeed, it doesn’t appear to have its own domain.)

Previous BuzzMedia acquisitions include stereogum.com, idolator.com, absolutepunk.net and others. The company operates the Celebbuzz network and a range of other sites.

The buys add further weight to the recent pickup in activity in content site acquisitions, including Forbes’ acquisition of True/Slant and Yahoo’s acquisition of Associated Content. Those other acquisitions were buys towards the top of the market, where as BuzzMedia’s acquisitions are lower down the scale, suggesting perhaps that the recovery in the market is spreading deeper into the long tail.

The price of acquisitions was not disclosed.
