Amazon Rolls Out Kindle Update, Brings Twitter And Facebook Capabilities

Amazon on Wednesday night rolled out the Kindle 2.5 update, an option which provides Kindle users with new social networking capabilities. The update, which includes Facebook and Twitter options allows users to highlight sections of their books and then send those highlighted areas as updates to their chosen accounts.

The update also provides a password lock option, larger and sharper fonts and the ability to zoom into and pan PDFs when text is too small. Another new feature with “Collections” allows users to sort both books and carried-over documents into groups.

The update is available on second-generation Kindle’s and is being pushed out automatically. [Electronista]
