Gizmodo blogger has his computers seized by police

Okay it’s not like we didn’t really expect this to happen but Gizmodo has just posted the news that one of their bloggers, Jason Chen, involved with the recent posting of Apple’s next generation iPhone has had the police seize his computers.

Apparently this happened last Friday night when California’s Rapid Enforcement Allied Computer Team entered his home while he wasn’t there and seized four computers and two servers. The warrant was issued by a Judge of Superior Court of San Mateo. Interestingly enough Gaby Darbyshire, COO of Gawker Media – owner of the Gizmodo blog, says that under California law the warrant is invalid.

Here are the first two pages of the warrant. You can view the whole set of papers at Gizmodo. I wonder how many people are rubbing their hands together in glee over this.
