Quickbooks online suffers 2 hour outage

Small business owners who use Quickbooks online and were hoping for a smooth end of week closing up of shop today got a bit of an unpleasant surprise when the service went down for a few hours.

Sometime around 1PM EST, QuickBooks tweeted this message to their followers:

Our team is working on getting QuickBooks Online back up. You can register to be notified when QBO is back online http://bit.ly/9lgEjf

At around 3PM EST, QuickBooks followed up to say the service was back up again:

QuickBooks Online is back online – thanks for your patience. You can login now http://bit.ly/9hpyjD

Reasons for the outage weren’t given, nor did the company indicate that customers would be offered any special treatment for their inconvenience. And although the service has been up for a while now, Twitter users have reported difficulties using the service as recently as twenty minutes ago. If reasons behind the cause of the Quickbooks outage becomes available, we’ll update with that information.
