Sandra Bullock As Miss Hannigan? ‘Annie’ Talks Ongoing [Report]

Sandra Bullock may play Miss Hannigan in Jay-Z’s Annie adaptation for the screen, a new report suggests.

While Carol Burnett left large shoes for Sandra Bullock to fill as the hard-drinking, slip-wearing, little-girl hating Miss Hannigan, the comedic actress certainly seems a good choice to take on the role most 80s kids fondly remember from many re-watches of the Aileen Quinn version of the musical.

Sandra Bullock’s possible Annie turn as Miss Hannigan, the villain of the show, was reported by The Wrap this week, but not confirmed.

According to the showbiz site, Sandy’s flak first declined the role but may be reconsidering — they write:

“Will Smith and Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter are producing Will Gluck’s updated musical, which stars Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) as the titular orphan, who was originally supposed to be played by Smith’s daughter Willow. Jamie Foxx will play NYC mayoral hopeful Benjamin Stacks, a variation on the Daddy Warbucks character.”

The Wrap reached out to both the studio and reps for Sandra Bullock, adding:

“Sony had no comment, while a representative for Bullock, who is traveling with the actress in Europe, did not reply to numerous requests for comment.”

The Hollywood Reporter notes that the first talks for Sandra Bullock to join the cast of Annie didn’t close off too long ago, and the paper reports:

“But [Bullock will star] only if a deal is made. Bullock and the studio were in talks in March, but the actress ultimately passed at the time. Now the two sides are back at the table … Sony is eyeing a late fall production start for an anticipated 2014 release.”

Do you think Sandra Bullock has the comedy chops to follow Burnett as Miss Hannigan in Annie?
