Terrell Owens Says ‘I Can Still Play’, Claims To Have Finally Matured

Former NFL running back Terrell Owens is still attempting to make a comeback, and his message to franchise owners is that he has matured and is ready to help younger stars reach greatness.

Owens recently sat down with the NFL Network’s NFL AM where he revealed that not a single team has given him a call since he was released by the Seattle Seahawks last August.

When asked why he hasn’t received any love, Terrell argued that the “politics” of the NFL have kept him from signing with a new team. Owens laments:

“I think a lot of it has to do with my reputation, things that I’ve done earlier in my career, but I’m a changed person. I’m a little bit more mature than I was in years past.”

Owens says despite being 39-years-old he believe he can still compete, noting, “I know I can still play the game and it’s a matter of somebody just giving me the opportunity to go out there and play.”

Terrell Owens missed the entire 2011 season as he sat out with an injury to his left knee. After his time in the NFL, Owens played a short stint with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League. Owens was released and lost his ownership stake with the Wranglers in May. Owens was said to have missed various obligations with the team.

Owens believes his best fit would be with a team that utilizes the West Coast system since that is where he got his start.

What teams would Owens fit well with? The wide receiver believes the Minnesota Vikings and the Kansas City Chiefs would both be good homes. The former is coached by former Philadelphia Eagles and Owens head coach Andy Reid.

Asked about his past, Terrell Owens says he has no regrets:

“I can’t go back and change the past, I can only move forward. If someone can be open-minded and be able to move forward with me, we can be on the same page and be on board.”

Do you think T.O. can still make an NFL combeback at 39-years-old?
