Jealous dad punches, kills baby son

A man from St. Albans, in the New York City borough of Queens, has been charged with murder in relation to the death of his infant son Xiah, who was seven months old.

Twenty-year-old Larry Greene told police that resentment over the baby’s bond with his mother ultimately drove him to fatally assault the child. The child’s mother was not at home at the time of the incident, and Greene says he punched his son when the child would not stop crying. Xian was rushed to Queens General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Greene later is said to have told investigators that “he was jealous because the infant was more attached to the mother than to him.”

The name of the baby’s mother has not been released. This is the fourth instance in the past month of a child dying due to abuse in the borough of Queens alone. A fifth child was critically injured, but survived.
