Rider Strong Talks Possibility Of A Guest Appearance On ‘Girl Meets World’

When Boy Meets World’s spin-off series Girl Meets World was announced, the buzz around the show was full of excitement. While Boy Meets World’s Rider Strong was initially excited about the news (apparently so excited he wrote a blog post about it), the actor along with some die hard fans of the original 1990s sitcom had some concerns about whether or not the series would be ruined.

Its leads, Ben Savage and Daniel Fishel, will be reprising their roles as regulars on the spin-off series. Along with Savage and Fishel, fan favorite and teacher to Cory’s gang, Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) will also return to the show. Although there seems to be a lot of support for the spin-off, Strong isn’t exactly sure if it’s worthy enough to make a guest appearance.

Strong of course played Cory’s best friend Shawn Hunter, who was often troubled and homeless due to his father coming in and out of his life. The reprisal of his character would be something that fans would look forward to as he was a fan favorite.

Rider Strong caught up with TVGuide at the ATX Television Festival where he reunited with his Boy Meets World cast. About possibly returning he said:

“I’m very hesitant, that’s why I’m not fully 100 percent [in] yet. I don’t think anyone from the show expected the response to be so positive, so I’m excited, but I’m going to wait and see. If it’s a good situation, I feel like I owe it to the fans.”

Ben Savage, who as a series regular is in tuned with the material of Girl Meets World, insists that the show won’t harm the original:

“It’s a new show that will hopefully speak to a new generation, and I think people will get that. We’re not going to mess with their memories; we’re doing an entirely new thing that will hopefully help a new generation grow.”
