Robert Griffin III: I’ll Be Ready For Training Camp

Robert Griffin III will be ready to take the field with the Washington Redskins this July for training camp.

The young quarterback is coming off an ACL injury but said that he had no doubt about his return.

RG3 said: “Training camp is a month and a half away, and I feel really good about that. And then the start of the season, I feel really good about that. So that’s why I say, ‘Without a doubt.’ ”

Coach Mike Shanahan was a little more reserved with his predictions.Shanahan said that it was too early to tell if RG3 would be suiting up on week one.

Shanahan said: “I don’t think anybody knows for sure… We just have to wait and see.”

And now that we’ve heard the optimistic opinion of Robert Griffin III and the realistic opinion of Mike Shanahan let’s take a look at what pessimistic Donovan McNabb has to say about RG3’s rehab.

McNabb said that RG3 has been focusing too much on extra circulars (he’s getting married, starring in commercials) and isn’t spending enough time focusing on the football field.

McNabb said: “It’s too much right now. It’s just too much. I get some of the things he’s doing to draw attention to himself: the Adidas commercials, going out and enjoying the life of a young, famous NFL quarterback. I understand he has a lot of stuff going on. But if you’re coming off ACL surgery, you don’t need to be having a press conference at OTAs. Every week? Really? It becomes a circus, a sideshow. It takes away from the focus of what those sessions are supposed to be about — the team.”

RG3 had surgery to repair his ACL on Jan. 9. He was originally scheduled to return in 7 to 9 months.
