Nick Offerman Releasing Memoir ‘Paddle Your Own Canoe’ In October

Get ready to meet your new favorite book. Parks & Recreation star Nick Offerman is releasing a memoir in October 2013 titled Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man’s Principles for Delicious Living.

According to the announcement on Amazon, the book will feature Offerman’s “humorous musings” on a variety of topics, including life, manliness and meat (what else is there, really?).

Offerman, best known for his role as Ron Swanson in Parks & Recreation, will offer tips on growing the perfect mustache, grilling red meat, “wooing a woman” and much more.

Also, Paddle Your Own Canoe will feature real woodworking tips. Fun fact: Offerman is actually an expert on the subject and even runs his own woodshop.

Other topics covered by Offerman’s book include: love, etiquette, time management, diet, grooming, and self-confidence. It is described as being filled with “laughter, wood shavings, and kisses.”

Offerman will also touch on his childhood in Minooka, Illinois.

“I grew up literally in the middle of a cornfield,” he says of his upbringing.

From there, he discusses how he got into carpentry and acting, and details the “hilarious seduction” of wife Megan Mullally (fun fact number 2: She plays “Tammy 2,” Ron’s second ex-wife, in Parks).

The description notes that the book will also feature a haiku poem by Offerman. Right on, then.

“A mix of amusing anecdotes, opinionated rants, and offbeat gaiety, Paddle Your Own Canoe will not only delight readers but may also rouse them to put down their smartphones, study sycamore leaves, and maybe even hand carve (and paddle) their own canoes,” the description ends.

Offerman isn’t the only Parks star working on a book. It was announced in January that Amy Poehler is also working on a new tome. It is currently untitled, but is said to be “inspired in part by Poehler’s interest in helping young women navigate the adult world.”

Nick Offerman’s Paddle Your Own Canoe will be released on October 1, 2013.
