‘The Colbert Report’ Taps Paul McCartney For Special One-Hour Music Episode

Music legend Paul McCartney will be taking over The Colbert Report for an extended, one-hour music special next week.

McCartney will be making his second appearance on Colbert’s popular late night Comedy Central program for an interview and several music performances stemming from his current Out There Tour, the 2013 reissue of “Wings Over America,” and an exclusive song available only at colbertnation.com.

“I think this McCartney kid’s got something special and I’m gonna put him on the map!” Colbert joked of McCartney’s appearance next week.

The Beatles legend first appeared on The Colbert Report on January 28, 2009. He was interviewed for a hilarious “Better Know a Beatle” segment.

Next Wednesday’s one-hour music special marks McCartney’s first musical appearance on the show. He’ll be taking a break from his sold-out Out There world tour for the June 12 appearance.

In other Paul McCartney-related news, the singer’s vintage 1980 concert film Rockshow debuted in May for a one-night only theatrical release. The film was shot during Paul McCartney and Wings’ 1976 world tour.

The re-release included an exclusive introduction and interview with McCartney, and will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in June of this year.

Paul McCartney’s musical Colbert Report special will air Wednesday, June 12 from 11:30pm to 12:30am ET/PT.
