Tiger Woods And Nike Close To New Deal

Tiger Woods is expected to continue his long relationship with Nike with a new endorsement deal.

Woods, who has been with Nike since 1996, signed a deal in 2006 that will end sometime before the end of the year. The golfer’s agent, Mark Steinberg, said that Woods is ready to sign a new deal with will “emphatically” keep him as golf’s highest paid player.

Steinberg said: “We’re down to the very, very short strokes right now … I would expect we would come out with some sort of joint announcement when we get the paperwork signed. I hope this is viewed as a pretty bold statement.”

Woods also said that the deal is almost done. After he finished his round at the Memorial Tournament on Sunday, Woods said that he just got a copy of the documents and would be signing very soon.

Woods said: “[The document’s] just got to get in front of me. Just a matter of time.”

Tiger has been with Nike for 17 years and it looks like he’ll continue his relationship with the company for several more years. Steinberg didn’t say how long the new contract would be for but said that Tiger will probably spend “his entire career” with Nike.

Steinberg said: “Tiger started his professional career with Nike in 1996. He has a long way to go in his career, but I feel with the type of deal we’ve constructed … I feel confident that he will be with Nike for his entire career.”

Woods lost several sponsors after the cheating scandal broke in 2009. Nike, however, decided to stand next to Tiger during the ordeal. Tiger is undoubtedly happy that Nike stuck by his side throughout his marital troubles. After all, the company did put more than $75 million into his pocket last year.
