Medical Marijuana Approved By 76 Percent Of Doctors, Says Poll

Medical marijuana is approved by 76 percent of doctors according to a survey in the New England Journal of Medicine.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, medical marijuana and pot legalization has resulted in an odd child safety danger. Pot brownies need to childproofed if medical marijuana is around the house.

Medical marijuana is “one of the greatest hoaxes of all time” according to Mayor Bloomberg. He generally favors reducing penalties in the city for pot possession but he is a foe of outright legalization. But it seems Mayor Bloomberg’s opinion on medical marijuana might conflict with the majority of doctors.

The medical marijuana doctor survey included responses from 1,446 doctors from 72 different countries and 56 different states and provinces in North America. When doctors were asked if medical marijuana should be given to an older person whose suffering from cancer spread to the lungs, chest, and spine 76 percent of doctors supported administering medical marijuana.

Doctor support of medical marijuana specific to the United States varied based upon state. At least 50 percent of doctors in each state supported medical marijuana except in Utah, which had an amazingly low one percent support level for medical marijuana. I guess Mormons don’t approve of medical marijuana?

Medical marijuana is illegal by Federal law but 19 states and Washington D.C. currently allow prescriptions for medical marijuana. The writers at New England Journal of Medicine were surprised by the results:

“We were surprised by the outcome of polling and comments, with 76 percent of all votes in favor of the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes — even though marijuana use is illegal in most countries.”

What do you think about medical marijuana being supported by 76 percent of doctors?
