Jessica Chastain Denies Hilary Clinton Biopic Rumors

Jessica Chastain Rodham Movie

Jessica Chastain isn’t quite ready to be a former First Lady.

Early unconfirmed reports suggested that the Zero Dark Thirty star was gearing up to play Hilary Clinton in an upcoming biopic. However, Chastain said there is currently no truth to these rumors.

The actress decided to address the situation at the Chime for Change: Sound of Change Live in London over the weekend.

“You know what happens? They just say these are the people we’re considering asking. It doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t mean any of us have read the script, any of us have heard of the project,” Jessica Chastain explained.

She added, “I found out about the project online, but, yeah, there’s a lot of stuff out there.”

The proposed Hilary Clinton biopic would focus on the time she spent working on the Richard Nixon impeachment hearings during the 70s. In addition to Jessica Chastain, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, and Amanda Seyfried are also reportedly up for the role.

Although the Mama star isn’t attached to star in the Hilary Clinton movie, this doesn’t mean that she bears any ill will towards the former First Lady. In fact, Jessica Chastain appears to be a fan.

“She was foxy in the 70s. Have you seen the pictures where she showed her little midriff? I saw a picture of her in shorts. I love Hillary!” the actress gushed.

Director James Ponsoldt’s Rodham is still in the early stages of development. While a number of top-tier talent is rumored to be up for the lead role, no one has been cast in the picture just yet.

“They’re all wonderful actresses. We’re very fortunate that a lot of really great actors are interested in playing these roles. We’re in an enviable position,” Ponsoldt explained.

Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, and Amanda Seyfried have yet to comment on their rumored involvement with the Hilary Clinton movie.
