Xbox One Deal Will Earn AMD $3 Billion In Business

Do you want to earn $3 billion in a single deal? That’s what AMD did recently when it signed a contract to provide the Microsoft Xbox One with its eight-core Jaguar chipset.

Microsoft announced the Jaguar chipset deal during the big unveil for the Xbox One; however, the windfall for the deal was not revealed at that time.

Now a document between former AMD executive Bob Feldstein has surfaced in which the custom AMD Jaguar deal is revealed.

According to detailed he posted on his LinkedIn page, the $3 billion in expected earnings are for the life of the Xbox One contract.

On his LinkedIn profile page, Bob Feldstein writes:

“AMD provided a custom silicon solution to Microsoft for the Xbox One, a game console and entertainment device. This required the coordination of multiple functional teams within AMD, as well as regular customer meetings with leadership teams responsible for handling the challenges of complex, muti-year deals. This project is valued at $3+B.”

While details about the deal have since been removed from the former executive’s LinkedIn page, screencasts were taken, and we have the full posts listed below:

Microsoft has a lot riding on the Xbox One as the company faces constant questions over whether or not consumers will continue to invest in gaming platforms in the age of mobile computing and mobile gaming.

Microsoft will also face steep competition from the next-generation Sony Playstation, which promises to deliver high-speed gaming and graphics to buyers.

Will you be picking up the Xbox One when it finally goes on sale?
