Glenn Close Joins James Gunn’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

Glenn Close has signed on for a major role in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

The cast of the forthcoming Marvel flick seems to get bigger and more impressive with each passing moment. Just days after John C. Reilly was approached for a role in the adaptation, it’s being reported that Close has joined up.

Sources told Deadline that Glenn Close will take a “leadership role” in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy. She will likely head up Nova Corp, which is essentially an intergalactic police force.

The website also suggests that the deal between Marvel and John C. Reilly is a done deal. If this is true, then the Magnolia star will play the liaison between S.H.E.I.L.D. and the interplanetary cops.

According to Variety, Glenn Close is currently in final negotiations with Marvel for the role in James Gunn’s flick. However, it’s probably safe to say it’s a done deal.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy already sports an impressive star-studded cast. In addition to Reilly and Close, the film also stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, and Pushing Daisies alum Lee Pace. That’s a lot of talent for one project.

HitFix also reported earlier this week that writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are being asked to give the script a bit of polish before the project goes in front of the camera. Filming is currently slated to being in about a month. The release is tentatively set for August 1, 2014.

After finishing up a very impressive turn in the television series Damages, Glenn Close has started lining up a number of big screen projects. Not only is the award-winning actress signing on for Guardians of the Galaxy, she’s also attached to star alongside Nick Nolte in writer-director Chris D’Arienzo’s Always on My Mind.
