Gisele Shuns Makeup, Photoshop In New Ad Campaign

Gisele Bundchen is shunning makeup and Photoshop for a new ad campaign, saying she wants to embrace her imperfections.

The 32-year-old supermodel posed for the ad campaign for BLK DMN without makeup, hairdressing, or any kind of post-shoot re-touching. Giesle said designer/photographer Johan Lindberg came up with the idea, and she embraced it.

“I feel like women should be really real and raw and it doesn’t happen anymore [in fashion photographs],” she told Fashionista.com. “I love that feeling of, you know, we are women, we are so different, our imperfections are what make us unique and beautiful. He gets that. He’s not trying to retouch you or put a pretty light on you. He’s not like ‘you gotta look a certain way.’ He’s like, ‘you are you’ so now I’m gonna just be here with a camera, so express yourself how you like.”

Lindberg said he hopes the pictures where Gisele shuns makeup will help portray women exactly as they are. In the series Gisele poses for 25 photos, showing her barefoot and topless, sans makeup.

“I’m a massive feminist. I’m the one who thinks that women should take over completely. To portray women as who they are — I see it more like a documentary portrait. I’m anti-retouching and [anti-] plastic surgery. I think a woman is beautiful how she is,” said.

Gisele got some attention at the BLK DMN launch as she brought younger sister Gabriela Bundchen along. Gisele posted to Instagram a picture with her arm around her sister and the caption: “So happy my sister Gabi is in town!”

Gabriela Bundchen, who herself dabbled in modeling before becoming a lawyer back in Brazil, earned plenty of attention after her appearance with Gisele. As As E! noted, somehow both Gisele Bundchen and her sister are the pretty sister.

Some of the pictures where Gisele shuns makeup can be seen in this album of the ad campaign debut.
