Snoop Lion To Guest Star On ‘One Life To Live’

Snoop Lion will be guest starring in the new web version of One Life to Live, the show’s producers said Thursday.

The artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg will play himself from May 28 to June 6.

“On the series, Snoop Lion is set to visit the fictional town of Llanview to promote his new film, Reincarnated,” a synopsis of the episodes said. “Snoop ends up making a powerful impact on Matthew Buchanan [played by Robert Gorrie] and also appears in multiple scenes with new and returning favorites including, Robert S. Woods, Hillary B. Smith, Corbin Bleu and Kelley Missal.”

Reincarnated is the name of the 41-year-old’s debut album under his new moniker, as well as his documentary film which chronicled his transformation from Snoop Dogg to Snoop Lion, and his exploration of reggae and Rastafarian culture. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2012, and was released in theaters March 21, 2013. The documentary was filmed over the course of a month in Jamaica, during which time Snoop met with Bunny Wailer, an original member of the reggae group The Wailers, and recorded his companion album.

Snoop will not only be appearing on the show, but he also produced and is featured on the series’ new theme song, “Brand New Start,” which features singer IZA, the first artist signed to his new label, Berhane Sound System. You can listen to the theme song below.

Snoop made cameo appearances on One Life to Live in 2008 and 2010, when the series was still airing on ABC. He has also appeared on The Boondocks, 90210, King of the Hill, and several other television series and films.

The Prospect Park/The OnLine Network revival of One Life to Live debuts new 30-minute episodes every Tuesday and Thurdsay through TOLN.com, Hulu.com and Hulu Plus, and iTunes.
