‘Ghostbusters 3’ To Be Based On Physics Research

Ghostbusters 3 will be based on particle physics.

No, wait. This isn’t going to be one of those boring scientific speeches you probably associate with the word “physics.”

The story behind the upcoming Ghostbusters 3 will be centered around the research of students at Columbia University, most likely adding a scene of Egon’s successor going into his long-winded explanations before someone cuts him off and probably does the Samuel L. Jackson reply of “English! Do you speak it?”

It was during a recent interview with Larry King that Dan Akroyd spilled this tidbit of the story surrounding Ghostbusters 3. And before you ask, yes, they are keeping the door open in case Larry King and Bill Murray want to come back for this film.

Dan Akroyd told the ever-famous radio personality about the story of Ghostbusters 3:

“It’s based on new research that’s being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University. Basically, there’s research being done that I can say that the world or the dimension that we live in, our four planes of existence, length, height, width and time, become threatened by some of the research that’s being done. Ghostbusters — new Ghostbusters — have to come and solve the problem.”

So to put it simply, some ghosts may start invading through a hole in space and time.

Dan Akroyd adds about Bill Murray’s decision not to reprise his role as Dr. Peter Venkman, “There will be a hole for him. If Billy wants to walk in the door and be in the movie, we will find a place.”

Ghostbusters 3 will apparently feature a new team of ghostbusters, under the tutelage of the old team. It remains to be seen whether audiences will accept a “next generation” of Ghostbusters, but given the age of the original cast, it’s the most practical solution.
